Background Information

Project MIR represents a research effort by Sean Bennett at Harvard and Cambridge Universities, funded by the Gates Foundation in Seattle, WA. Project MIR examines how and why music repeats uncontrollably and pervasively in our thoughts. The secondary, but also important goal of Project MIR is to provide a safe, secure, and well-designed virtual environment that investigates psychological issues and, at the same time, provides visitors and participants with an experience that is both educational and engaging. Project MIR thanks Project Implicit for a site model which has been the inspiration for this site. It is an outstanding and useful set of research projects conducted online.
